1941-2022
Larry MacDonald, age 81, of Ardness, passed away
Monday, August 15, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in New
Glasgow, he was a son of the late Anthony Lawrence and Elizabeth
MacDonald. Larry was a retired carpenter, working for Arsenault
Construction and Quinn Construction before joining Ardness
Construction with his brothers. He was a member of St.
Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. He is survived by his
children: Randy (Rachel), Trenton; Lonnie (Nicole), Ardness; Rob,
Pickering, ON; Lisa, New Glasgow; Gerald (Carol), Lamont Road; Peter
(Karen), Port Moody, BC; and Tim (Krista), Coquitlam, BC;
grandchildren: Kade, Avery, Scott, Mark, Adam, Brandon, Shane,
Marrissa, Daniel, Robyn, Amanda, Ryan, Ashley and Rob; sisters:
Shirley (Francis) MacMillan, Trenton; Debby (James) Mahoney, Ardness;
Joyce (Neil) MacGillivray, Brierly Brook; brothers: John (Jo-Ann),
Ardness; Brad (Wendy), New Glasgow; Edgar (Marion), Ashdale; Louie
(Grace), Ardness; sisters-in-law: Claire MacDonald, Egerton; Marion
MacDonald, Ardness; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his
wife, Cecilia Ann (Kirwan); sister, Mary J. (David) MacPherson;
brothers: Jerome and Peter; step daughter, Bernadette; step son,
Blaise. Visitation 6-9 pm Thursday, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55
Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral mass 10 am Friday in St.
Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore, with Fr. Colin
MacKinnon officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in his
memory may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery or Pictou County
Palliative Care Society.
