Lainey, Andrew William
It is with deep sadness that the family of Andrew Lainey announce his passing on Friday, September 30, 2022 at his home in Thornbury at the age of 32.
Andrew was born in London, Ontario, and spent the first nine months of his life in hospital. Despite his myriad of medical issues, he grew into the most delightful, lovable little boy who could make anyone smile. Andrew spent some of the best years of his life at Beaver Valley Community School (BVCS). He was adored by his teachers and educational assistants, and had many friends who treated him with kindness and respect. For the rest of his life, Andrew loved looking at his BVCS yearbooks; those memories brought him such comfort and joy.
As he got older, Andrew graduated from Georgian Bay Secondary School, and became an integral member of the Events For Life program in Thornbury. He spent many years as a regular attendee, enjoying daily activities, field trips, snacks, and the company of the most kindhearted people. Andrew will be so dearly missed by his very special Events For Life family.
Words cannot express how deeply Andrew will be missed by his adoring father Peter, and his big sister and fiercest protector Allison (Colin Matheson). His niece Lucy will miss spending time with him as she gets older, and will miss out on the valuable lessons Andrew taught all those who were lucky enough to know him. He is predeceased by his “sweet mom” Crystal Grove Lainey. There was no one that Andrew loved more in this world than his mom; she was the center of his universe, and we find peace in knowing that they are together again.
We would like to thank the Thornbury community for giving our sweet Andrew such a safe and loving place to spend his life. We are especially grateful to the staff and members of Beaver Valley Community School, Events for Life, and the Blue Mountain Community Church. Everywhere he went, Andrew was so, so loved.
A celebration of Andrew’s life will be conducted at Blue Mountain Community Church in Thornbury on Friday, October 21st, 2022 at 11 o’clock. A private interment will take place at Thornbury Clarksburg Union Cemetery in Thornbury.
