LACHAPELLE, Damien
1941 – 2022
LACHAPELLE, Damien Lionel – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Damien (David, Cowboy) Lachapelle. David passed away at home with his family on Thursday August 25th, 2022 after a brave battle with cancer. He will be fondly remembered for how important his family was to him and how he valued those close relationships. Whether it was enjoying family gatherings or providing his talents in building projects with his loved ones, he was always there. A well-respected leader in his position as roads foreman for the town of Kirkland Lake for many years.
David was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Josephine and his brother Marcel. His beloved wife of 61 years, Fay, will always hold his memory close to her heart. David will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Sandy (Robert) Turcotte, Angela (Kim Wakeford) Lachapelle, Tracy (Joel) McCartney as well as his sister Alice Lachapelle. He will be lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren, Daina, Bobby, Shawn, Robbie, Jerrid, Jessie, Damien, Morgan and Liam. David was proud to be the Great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the VON Victorian Order of Nurses – Northeast District and the Kirkland Lake District Hospital. These amazing and professional people were crucial in helping the family fulfill David’s wishes to remain at home during his battle with cancer.
In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
