Koni Kiss

Obituary of Koni Kiss
Koni Angela (Odegard) Kiss was born June 10, 1966 in Edmonton, and passed away on January 21, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.
Koni went to high school in Sherwood Park graduating in 1984. She went on to earn a diploma in Early Childhood Development from Grant MacEwan College. She worked for a number of years in Edmonton and it was during those years that Koni met the love of her life, Louis Kiss. They exchanged marriage vows in 1991 and lived in Edmonton for several years before relocating to Sedgewick to be closer to Koni’s family.
Both sets of grandparents were pioneers in the Lougheed area. Koni had, throughout her life, enjoyed an especially close relationship with them and with her extended family here. Koni enjoyed and excelled at building relationships with children and spent many years as a nanny to young families in the area. Koni was currently working as an educational assistant at CHSPS school in Sedgewick. She will have a lasting and eternal place in the hearts of the many children and families that she touched. She will be sorely missed by her church family of St. Andrew’s-Sedgewick United.
Koni is survived by her loving husband Louie; mother Linda Skoberg; brother James Odegard (Tanya Smith), niece Kendra Odegard (Matt Clark) and great-nieces Jayda, Devin and Emma; sister in-law Eva Kiss and niece Jaime Kiss.
She has aunts, uncles, cousins and many nephews and nieces – a large extended family – many friends – all of whom will miss her gentle presence dearly. She was a true believer in the importance of family. Koni was predeceased by her father Morten Odegard (another victim of cancer) and half-brother Anton Nerland.
A Private family farewell will be held.
Donations can be made to cancer research or to a charity of donor’s choice.
