Kay was born in Lashburn, SK and grew up on a farm near Waseca.
She became a teacher in several one room schools. In High Prairie, AB she met Walter, the love of her life. The next year she transferred to a school on the Alaska Highway, he followed her up and they were married in 1954. Together they raised four children and in 2019 celebrated their 65th anniversary.
Kay returned to the U of A to get her B Ed. Degree at age 57, graduated and began teaching English as a Foreign Language full time.
Before she died Kay told us that with hard work and a bit of luck, she made all her dreams come true.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial to follow at a later date.
