On December 20, Jordan Cale Kirillo passed away at 9:10 in the morning. He had just turned 42 on December 17.
To say Jordie was unique would be an understatement. He was a true one-of-a-kind. We have never met anyone like our son, brother, or friend, and truly don’t think we will ever come across someone like him again.
He was unafraid. Unafraid to challenge the “norm”. Unafraid to be different. Unafraid of judgement. Unafraid to be himself. When society said, “go right”, Jord took a left. That’s what made him so special. For better or worse, he was unapologetically himself. He was authentic.
Jordan was many things to many people. A lover of music, a bassist, a camper, an explorer. A football player, a university graduate, an archeologist, an anthropologist. A historian, a traveler, a conversationalist, the life of the party. An uncle, a brother, a son, a friend.
He was also the most selfless person we have ever met. It’s probably the word used most to describe him. Whenever he was needed by his friends, his family, his work, or even a perfect stranger, Jordan was there to help. Sometimes to a fault. He never, ever put himself first. Even when he needed to help himself in the past few years, he’d rather spend his efforts helping others.
Our family truly appreciate everyone’s thoughts at this time. This is something nobody plans for. It hurts. Badly. But we take solace knowing how many people Jordan touched. A celebration of life is be planned Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Woodvale Clubhouse on the Mill Woods Golf Course.
Our hope is that all the people Jordan had an impact on can come and share what a tremendous person he was. Be casual, just like Jordan.
It was incredible support to our family that when Jodie’s friends learned he was in the hospital, they came and were able to say goodbye. We want to let his friends know that you were his family as well. He loved you all and treated you all as a part of our family. So please, instead of condolences, share your memories, stories and photos or share this.
In only the way he would want, please share the crazy, the wild, the authentic Jordan. We would love to have any pictures or memories that you have to be at his celebration. Please send to jkirillo@shaw.ca or bring to his celebration.
