Kimberly Charlene Young March 25 2022

Young, Kimberly Charlene – Age 55, of Musquodoboit Harbour. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Kimberly Charlene Young on March 22, 2022. Kim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family after a brave 18-month battle with brain cancer.
Born in Toronto to Linda and Ernest Doyle before moving back home to Nova Scotia, Kim grew up in the Bedford/Sackville area and spent a lot of time in Moser River. She graduated from Duncan MacMillan High School as valedictorian in 1985, the same year which she married Terry Findlay. She went on to study travel and tourism in Halifax, and worked for a number of years at Liscomb Lodge. She then took a position at Credit Union Atlantic. She and Terry had two boys, Kyle and Kane who she said are equally handsome, and were her whole world.
Kim (or ‘Chickie’ as she was known), married her loving husband, Mike Young in 2006. Kim ran a successful bookkeeping business until the end of her life. Along with Mike, they also ran their own construction company, Birkshire Developments, for over 20 years, living in Musquodoboit Harbour where they built their dream home in 2018.
Kim was predeceased by her father, Ernie (1997) and stepfather, Perry (2016). She is survived by her husband, Mike; sons, Kyle and Kane; stepdaughters, Amanda (Brody) Olsen and Ashley (Tyler) MacDonald; grandchildren, Bella, Chase, and Sophie; mother, Linda; aunt, Kathleen; uncle, Ken; sister-in-law, Cheryl; brother-in-law, Tim; mother-in-law, Pat; and dogs, Oliver and Drake. All of whom love her deeply.
Kim volunteered on the Twin Oaks Hospital Foundation board for many years as treasurer, as well as with the Musquodoboit Harbour and Area Chamber of Commerce. She believed in giving back to the community– a lesson she would instill in her boys. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her famous cookies. She had a green thumb and would spend hours working on her flower beds. She loved spending time with the ‘girls’, Linda, Rhonda, Wendy, and Tammy as well as many other dear friends. In her final years she also took up quilting at home by the lake (with lots of help from the dogs).
Kim will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially Mike and her boys.
The family would like to thank the nurses and palliative care team, as well as Northwood Homecare for the assistance in the final weeks.
There will be no funeral as per Kim’s wishes, however a Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family on June 11th in their home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Canadian Cancer Society or Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital Foundation.
