Kent Parker McNutt Friday June 3rd 2022

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kent (Hummer) Parker McNutt on June 3, 2022 at the age of 66 following a short but courageous battle with leukemia. He may not have lived long, but he lived wide! He died at home as per his wishes surrounded by his daughters, Amber and Tara and his sisters, Donna, Paula, and Brenda. He grew up in Bible Hill and was proud to be from “the hill.”
He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Elmer McNutt and two of his best friends, Gary “The Frenchman” Devouge and Anthony “Trucker” Purdy.
He is survived by his daughters, Amber and Tara (Jeff) Moxsom; grandkids, Kash, Noah, Addie; sisters, Donna (Todd) Gratto, Paula (Paul) Richards, Brenda (John) Morrisey; nieces and nephews, Carling, Brody, Rayleigh, Chloe and his close cousins, Lynn, Joyce, Joan, Debbie, Wilma and Ralph; his “adopted” daughter, Shawna and his close friend, Robert “Dr. Bob” Murphy.
Family and friends were everything to Kent. He loved all of his animals from his first dog, Sport, to Spanky, Ernie, Mabel, Essie, PP and Supper the goat.
He participated in sports his whole life including hardball, hockey, weight lifting, skiing, long-distance running (annual Johnny Miles participant) and slo-pitch. He was one of the founding members of the original Saints rugby team.
He was a talented carpenter and Jack of all trades. He worked his entire career with his dad. In his “retirement years,” he worked for Martin at Tim Horton’s. He loved tormenting the girls and the customers and loved his trips to the dump where he brought home many treasures! His final quest brought him back to his passion of carpentry where he had the great pleasure to work with his brother-in-law, Todd on many home improvements. He was a hard worker, always the first one to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Kent always lived life to the fullest and he loved to entertain people and make them laugh. Some of his antics were driving his motorcycle through the hall of CEC (and not getting caught), bull riding at the exhibition, wrestling/biting the eel, doing flips off decks, wheelies on his motorbike and riding the luggage carousel at the airport when he moved home from out West, just to name a few. Kent enjoyed times at Sutherland’s Lake, including snowmobiling on “the pumpkin” and four wheeling. He was loved by many and everyone knew he was a die-hard Montreal Canadiens and 49er’s fan.
Spencer’s Point was a special place to him, where he spent a lot of time bass fishing and hanging with his friends. He loved his daily visits to Carl’s to see Scotty and the boys for his morning road report.
Kent’s backyard became the club house where the ball team spent many years celebrating victories and losses.
He loved going to the Horseman’s Club, betting on the horses and sitting at the liar’s table.
He enjoyed spending time in his games room competing and heckling with Robert, Anthony, Dilly, Billy and Dalton in shuffle board and pool.
In his last few years, he enjoyed golfing with his buddies, Dale, Tony, Lynn, Dave and yard-saling and fixing things with Elwood.
He valued his lifelong friendship with his buddy, Donnie (Milton). Kent (Grasshopper) also appreciated the good times with his longtime friend, Ian (Master). He loved his betting rivalry with Ronnie for every game the Leafs and Canadiens competed. To Kent’s humiliation, Ronnie was the last winner of the ongoing $5.00 per game bet.
We would like to thank the nurses and doctors from the VG 8th floor and the girls at Medi day in Truro for the care they provided for Kent.
Donations may be made to the TAAC Revitalization Project.
A Celebration of Life will take place on June 11th from 2:00-6:00 pm in the Rugby Club on Farnham Mill Road. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences are available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
