It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Kenneth “Kenny” O’Hanley announce his passing which occurred unexpectedly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Friday, November 18, 2022. Born to the late Leonard and Mary “Mae” O’Hanley on March 29, 1939, he was aged 83 years of Souris, PE.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Cathy (nee Gauthier) and will be forever remembered as a most loving father to Donna, Betty (Wendell), Carol (Steve) and Gerald (Mary). Kenny was also a proud and caring Poppy to his grandchildren Blake, Celia, Lacey, Taylor, Jack, Chase, Lemmie and Abe. In addition, he will be deeply missed by his constant and loving companion Kay Grant.
Kenny will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, partner and friend. He was kind and generous; compassionate and had a great love for his family. He also had a great sense of humor and could deliver one-liners like no other. He spent many years in North Lake working as a fish buyer and store operator. Later in life he enjoyed volunteering with meals on wheels, playing bingo, cards, bowling and watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the honor of calling him a friend.
He is survived by his dear sister Adele Mills (Aldie) along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended members of the O’Hanley and Gauthier family. Predeceased by his sister Jean Savoie (Gerard) and nephew Lennie Savoie.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 5-8pm. A funeral mass will be held in the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at 11:00am with interment to follow in the church cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Kenny can be made to the Eastern Kings Sportsplex or the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and are appreciated by the family.
