Kenneth Gerald Shumaker Monday July 11th 2022

With great sadness, the family of Ken Shumaker announce his passing on Monday, July 11 at the Olds Hospital in Alberta.
Ken was born April 7, 1952 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, to Don and Kay Shumaker. Ken attended school in Swift Current and Stewart Valley. Ken married the love of his life Anne Vangen on May 6th, 1972, and they had three children.
Ken began his working career in Calgary as a legal surveyor; moving back to Stewart Valley, he had various jobs before obtaining his Power Engineering Certification, beginning a 35 year career with Exxon Mobile, retiring in 2017.
During his lifetime, family, kids, and puppies were the most important things, followed by his love for camping (mostly at Saskatchewan Landing), golfing, fishing, and country music. His favourite thing to do on holidays was setting up the campground site, rake to a tee, adding all the special things to make a home away from home. Yard work was a pastime he and Anne enjoyed together. Ken loved all sports – hockey, baseball, Riders football, and beer!
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Anne (nee Vangen), and his children: Daughter Lori (Randy), and their son Dylan, son Ryan (Tracey) and their children Tyler, Logan, and Madison, and son Patrick and his sons Oswin and Jacob. He is also survived by four brothers and three sisters. At Ken’s request, there will be no funeral service.
