Kendra Marie Cavill
September 21, 2022
Kendra Marie Cavill died in her mother’s arms September 21, 2022. Kendra is survived by her mother, Cherry; brother, Adam (Christine) and sister Paige; Auntie Barbara and Uncle David, Uncle Alan and Aunt Sandy, Auntie Marcia; cousins Paul and Kathryn, nieces Madison, Katriana and Rose. She was predeceased by her best friend, her father, John.
Born in Toronto, Kendra grew up in Dartmouth where she graduated from Prince Andrew High School and worked at the Cole Harbor Superstore for over 18 years.
She will be greatly missed not just by family and friends, and long time friend Chris, but also by the volunteers at the many organizations where she assisted and by a whole generation of young up-and-coming hockey players. Her passion was the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. She attended every home game and some away games. She also supported the Cole Harbour Wolfpack of the Nova Scotia U18MHL and the Auburn Drive Eagles high school team. Kendra had a warm relationship with players, staff and billets.
Kendra enjoyed volunteering for many organizations including Heart and Stroke, Diabetes, Blue Nose and other runs, Canadian Cancer Society – Relay for Life, the Longest Day of Golf; and others.
Always loyal to family, friends and coworkers, Kendra was conscientious about sending cards, finding the right gift and treating people with kindness. Knowing and using people’s names was important to her, most recently the names of the many nurses and staff on 3 East at Dartmouth General Hospital where she spent the last four months of her life.
Her hobbies were photography and traveling. It gave her great joy to take family members Skye, the Great Dane, and Kassey the cat to the beach to photograph them for her large collection. Many family vacations especially to Barbados where she swam with the turtles, was something she looked forward to, as was hosting family and friends at the family home in Cow Bay and in turn visiting them in far away locations.
We are most grateful to close friends and many others who supported us in many ways over the last months.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. in Saint John XXIII Church, 35 Colby Dr., Colby Village. Reception to follow in the church hall. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hope for Wildlife – 440-2305, Save the Turtles bit.ly/3fggNiL, or charity of your choice.
