Keith Percy Johns, June 23rd, 1962 – January 31st, 2022
It is with deep sadness; our family announces the passing of Keith Percy Johns. Dear son of Percy Leonard Johns (deceased) Mary Collen Johns (Mulvihill) (deceased), loving partner to Pauline LaFortune, devoted brother to Gregory Johns (deceased), Debera Flynn, Wendy Johns (Don), Mary Ellen McIlmoyle (Scott)
To some, he was Keith. To us, he was Uncle. Everyone called him Uncle, literally. The name Uncle didn’t come by chance, with more than a dozen nieces and nephews, Uncle lived up to his name to say the least. Uncle was the person everyone could rely on. No matter who it was, or when it was, Uncle was there. Uncle took care of his parents in their later years, and not because he had too, because he wanted too. That was just the type of person he was. Uncle will be missed by the love of his life Pauline LaFortune. They have been together for nearly 20 years, and Pauline brought a type of happiness into Uncle’s life that many had not seen before.
Uncle was a passionate man, he enjoyed music ranging from Judas Priest to Elvis. His biggest passion was sports. Uncle knew sports. Growing up in Sudbury, he was an avid Wolves fan, not to mention he was a regular at their games along side his mother. If you wanted to know something about sports, that only a handful of people may know, you went to Uncle. A true-blue Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto Blue Jays fan, you could always find Uncle in his rocking chair, his legs always moving, yelling at the TV. He was just that passionate. Uncle also loved animals. Always making sure he greeted everyone’s dog and quickly becoming their best friend. This was no surprise to anyone; Uncle was someone everyone loved.
Uncle enjoyed many years at the family Camp. No matter what the job, Uncle was there to jump in and lend a hand. He wasn’t the type to sit still, he needed to help. Uncle was the one you went to if you needed to talk, or if you needed to just sit there in silence. He would listen either way, he was just happy to be there for you. No matter the hardships Uncle went through, you would never be able to tell. With a smile from ear to ear, his gentle tone, or his innocent, almost childlike laugh, Uncle would instantly make everything seem better. Uncle was no stranger to a good joke or prank, and if you were quick enough to pull one on him, you could count on being called a “dirty dog “.
Uncle will be deeply missed by our family. If you’re reading this, take a page from Uncle’s book. Be kind, be loving, be supportive, be gentle, be happy. The world always has room for someone like Uncle.
Uncle Forever.
Uncle suffered for 40 years with Granulomatosis, a disease that effected his kidneys and other organs, therefore donations to the Dialysis Unit at Health Sciences North are gratefully appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
