Obituary
Kean Carter McKenzie, age 18, died on January 1, 2022 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He was born May 15, 2003, to parents Jodi Griffiths and Sean (Viv) McKenzie. With his infectious smile and open heart, Kean was known by friends and family for his kindness, generous spirit, and intellect.
Faced with much adversity throughout his young life, he handled every situation with grace, always seeing the best qualities in others and addressing people with patience, care, and wisdom beyond his years. He had a close group of friends who appreciated his openness and acceptance, and he could often be found gaming online with them at all hours of the night.
He had a rich imagination that fueled a lifelong passion for creative writing. He dreamed of becoming an author and had just completed a successful first semester at university, majoring in English.
Kean is survived by his parents, his brother Dylan McKenzie, grandparents Cherry and Brian Charbonneau and Jim and Michelle McKenzie, aunts Kelly Sinnock (Hub), Caleigh McKenzie-Greer (Chris), and Kyla McKenzie, uncle Jamie Charbonneau, and cousins Gabe, Lucy, Orion, and Elijah.
The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at St. Michael’s Hospital who provided amazing care to Kean and family. We will always remember the beautiful person he was.
A Funeral Service will be held on a date to be announced at Kitching, Steepe & Ludwig Funeral Home, Waterdown, ON. Donations to McMaster Children’s Hospital (www.hamiltonhealthsciences.ca/about-us/ways-to-give/child-life/) arewelcomed in lieu of flowers.
