With heavy hearts, but with appreciation of a long life well-lived, we announce the death Kay Ruthven on May 19th at the Upper River Valley Hospital. Kay was born July 2nd 1935 at Tracy New Brunswick Daughter to the late Harry and Anna (McLeary) Maynard.
Upon graduation Kay moved to Ontario and worked in a law office for a few years and then moved to the insurance industry. After her beloved Husband Earl’s death 1999, Kay made the decision to relocate to Woodstock to be close to her sister Lavina Keenan and mother Anna. Kay continued as a court stenographer until her breast cancer diagnosis, which she fought and won. Never one to sit quietly, Kay organized the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life for a number of years , leaving an indelible mark on the community as a champion and trailblazer of volunteering. Kay’s countless volunteer efforts were recognized by the Canadian Cancer Society by being awarded the Medal of Courage.
