Katrina’s Obituary
Known as ‘Katie’ to her friends and family, she was born and raised in Marathon, Ontario on February 27, 1983. Always the center of attention, she had a large circle of friends. Katie also loved animals, filling her life with multiple cats and dogs and even a pet tarantula that she had named Rose. She managed to fall for every boy band in the 90s and knew all of their names and back stories. Her bedroom walls were covered in teen pop star posters for years.
Her love for children started early. She had a large collection of dolls that she would baby when she was very young. By twelve years old, she was babysitting most weekends for various friends of the family. Katie once said ‘All I ever wanted to be was a mom’ and that’s what she did. She brought 7 beautiful children into the world and did her best to raise them. She knew her entire family’s birth dates and was often messaging her siblings reminding them to wish so and so a happy birthday.
Katie was fond of the color periwinkle and dark colors, usually in psychedelic patterns. She loved reading books and as a kid, she was a big fan of the “Goosebumps” series. She enjoyed any book or movie about the paranormal. She liked to spend time on social media and was a regular contributor to several local Facebook groups, as well as her own Tik Tok. She was always willing to lend an ear or advice to anyone that asked and she never judged anyone on their appearance. Katie had a strong sense of family and tried very hard to provide all that she could for her children.
She is dearly missed by her friends and family.
Katie is survived by her parents Georgina and John Currie, Peter and Elizibeth Young, Brothers; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as well as her children Callah, Teegan, Rylenn, Finnly, Mylloh, Attley, and Elliot.
A public memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 8th at 1 pm in the Super 8 conference room. A private interment will follow at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made IN TRUST to her children through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
We did not know that morning
What sorrow the day would bring,
The bitter grief, the shock severe,
To part with one who was so dear.
You bid no one a last farewell,
No chance to say goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it,
We only pray that when you left us,
That you knew how much we cared,
Today, tomorrow,
Our whole lives through,
We will always love,
And cherish memories of you.
We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives,
Until we meet again.
