Always by their sides Brother in-law Robert Warren and wife Mary (nephews Stephen, Glen and nieces Deborah Nancy). Remembering a large circle of nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of family and friends, especially Tony and Ann Marie Norman.
Predeceased by her mommy Agnes & daddy Maurice Power who she cherished so much. She was nicknamed “Queenie” by her daddy at a young age, she was his little Queen, the youngest of 13 children, brothers John, Maurice, Thomas, sisters Anna, Rosie, Dorothy, Brigette, Gertrude, Elizabeth, Genevieve and Agnes.
Kathleen Mary Power was born Feb.27, 1944 in Union East in Gander during the second world war. Her mommy was taken to the hospital that stormy evening by dog sled and team lead by her oldest sister Anna. Kathleen was a true Ganderite, as she lived her entire beautiful life in Gander.
She met her love Calvin, her shining star and were married September 4th 1964. Together they bought a quaint little house with a white picket fence on 11 Baldwin Street and so it began. There they raised their three amazing girls. They enjoyed their fur babies Toby, Josie and Bailey, Ginny and Inky and the many stray dogs and cats that came their way.
Her love for life and her zest for outdoors and little critters was totally beautiful. She was kind to everything and everyone. Her favourite poem was Desiderata. She loved to hear the birds sing, the smell of flowers and fresh air. She was an angel on earth to any living creature. Her time was enjoyed with family, time spent on Big J’s, across the lake at their cabin on Gander Lake, Gismo Falls, camping, fishing, boating, skidooing and walking. She loved music and loved to dance. Her favourite music was listening to the beat of Cal’s drums, she was his biggest fan. Or just simply hanging onto Cal on the back of the Harley roaring down the highway with the wind in her face.
The family would like to thank the staff of James Peyton Memorial Hospital, especially Candy. Lakeside Homes, you all are special people. Also, the wonderful caregivers at Provincial Home Care who are like family, especially Delores Hicks.
Queenie will be sadly and forever missed by her family and friends. Rest easy, your mommy and daddy are waiting for you. Until we meet again we will see you in our dreams.
