AVAKIAN, Katherine
It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, special aunt and friend of many; Katherine “Kathy’ Avakian at the GNGH on Tuesday August 9, 2022 in her 88th year. Predeceased by her late husband Mike Avakian Sr. (Smokey) 2002. Survived by her daughter Gloria-Jean Kazangian (Kirk), Michael Avakian Jr. (Diane) and grandchildren, Nicholas (Shirley), Sabrina, Michelle (Dan), Kathleen (Elmer), Robert (Eden), her 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, sisters-in-law Nellie Avakian and Susan Rosko (Jan) and Aunt Joan Moligian. Dearly missed by her special friend and soulmate Bill Nestorovich. Mom enjoyed many family get-togethers through the years. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating at different restaurants, and long drives in the country.
A private family service and burial will take place at a later date.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Niagara Falls Trillium Unit for all of their compassion and extraordinary care.
