Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Sakura House in Woodstock, at age 84. She was born on November 9, 1937 in Strathroy, Ontario to Edward and Katharine (née Bain) Brock. Ilene is survived by her three sisters Isabel, Donna and Karen; and brother Alan. Mother to sons Michael (Liz) Howard and Richard (Marilyn) Howard; grandmother to Matthew (Valerie), Kyle (Mariam), Jaclyn, Brett and Caylee; great grandmother to Remy Gabriela.
Ilene spent 30 years working at the London Middle Catholic School Board, and immensely enjoyed working with the staff. She also served as executive secretary to two Directors of Education. She held many trips and visits with her grandchildren, and in her later years she enjoyed many different opportunities to travel abroad, as well as attending local playhouses in Southern Ontario.
A thank you to all the nurses, doctors and support staff, the very professional and dedicated team at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on the 5th floor, and the staff and volunteers in Woodstock at Sakura House.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel (709 Wonderland Road North, London). A funeral service will be held in the Westview chapel on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Strathroy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sakura House or STEGH would be appreciated by the family.
