Obituary of Karen Louise Trotchie – Nurse
Karen Nurse (Trotchie) passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Karen was known as ‘Pusty” by those who loved her.
She was predeceased by her father, Clarence Trotchie, her Koohkoom Justine and Mooshoom Peter. Also, by many aunties and uncles, Louise Belcourt (Ed), Alex Trotchie (Mary), Irene Dimick (Lester), Norman (Bob) Trotchie, Irvin Trotchie (Josephine), Violet Livingstone (Don), Dorothy Askwith, Kay Mazer, Marg Laframboise, and Mary Cousins. She was also predeceased by many cousins.
She is survived by Keyanna, who called her Gamma, her mother Phyllis Trotchie, sister Faye Maurice and brothers Wayne (Patti), Stewart, Dennis and David, uncles Bob (Ev), Stan (Doreen), auntie Shirley, and many cousins and friends.
Karen was a descendant of La Prayrii Rond and was a proud Michif woman. She supported Métis causes and was involved for a time with the Métis Women of Saskatchewan.
Pusty was very kindhearted and helped people whenever she could with what little she had. She was fun to be with and was always helpful and respectful.
Kishchi maarsii (many thanks) to our cousin Nora Cummings, for her spiritual support and guidance with Michif ways. Special thanks to Gabriel Dumont Local 11 and CUMFI Local 165 for their support and generosity. Maarsii to the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan for the beautiful cremation box.
The family also thanks the Saskatoon City Police officers, Coroner Clive Weighill, Karens’ neighbors, and the Saskatoon Funeral Home for their caring and assistance. To the SPCA we thank you for kind support in our time of need.
A Celebration of Life will be held outdoors at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 2022, at 1301 Avenue J. North. If it is raining the location will be at Terra Housing Community Centre at 135 McCormack Road.
