Obituary of Karen Frances Smith
Peacefully after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Smith, at the Brockville General Hospital, due to the complications of MS on Thursday September 1st, 2022 at the age of 67.
Karen was born in Streetsville, raised in North York and spent her working life in Toronto. She was an avid fundraiser and champion for MS and Dog Guides.
Loving daughter of the late Francis and Lily (Aandal) Smith. Dear sister of the late Ronald and Brian Smith and survived by her brother Gregory Smith of the Netherlands; nieces Gabrielle, Julia and Emma: nephew Adam; and many friends. Karen will also be missed by dear friends Gordon MacDonald and Debbie Guild (Cole), and her service dog and companion Bonsai.
Family and friends are invited to the Memorial Service to celebrate Karen’s life to be held in the Chapel of the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street, Brockville, Ontario on Saturday October 8th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. In memory of Karen, donations to the MS Society of Canada or the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
