In Celebration of
June Margaret Cliffe
June 8, 1928 –
November 9, 2022
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of June Cliffe (nee Kempfer) at Alexander Place on November 9, 2022, aged 94. Born in Hamilton to Anne (McCrae) and Larry Kempfer, June is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Frederick Walter Cliffe. She will be lovingly remembered by their children Peggy Suhr (Alain), Pat Potticary (Rick), John (Jacquie), and Julie (Steven Naqvi). Cherished Grandma to eight grandchildren (Elisabeth, Emmanuelle, Virginia, Greg, Alex, Chris, Graeme, Erin), eight great-grandchildren, and her 4-footed companion Tiki who all brought her so much joy. She was predeceased by her sister Kay, brothers Don and Jim McWhirter and Roy Kempfer.
A self-confessed “Happy Hooker” until arthritis got in her way, June was a long-time member, occasional president and prolific rug maker of the Burlington Hooking Craft Guild. She was also a shortbread baker extraordinaire whose skills are already keenly missed.
The family would like to warmly thank the staff of Alexander Place for their care of June for the past 8 years. As per June’s wishes, private cremation has taken place. Interment at Bayview Cemetery in Burlington at a later date. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of June to the Art Gallery of Burlington, Alexander Place, or the PSP Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated.
