Julie P McKeen Hale Monday September 12th 2022

On Monday, September 12, 2022, Julie passed peacefully and surrounded by her family, after a two year courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Beloved wife to her devoted husband, Brian McKeen, whom she was married to for 41 wonderful years. Julie is the loving mother to Blair (Carla) McKeen of Hamilton and Tara (Tim) Egan of Burlington. Proud grandmother to Henry and Chloe Egan. Forever in the hearts of her sisters Sandy (Rui) Hale-Malhinha, Jane Hale and Aunt to Clare Malhinha. Sister-in-law of Jim (William) McKeen and Keith (Louise) McKeen. Always remembered by her nieces, nephews and all her extended family and friends. Julie was a nurse of 42 years mainly at Joseph Brant Hospital in the neo-natal unit and a coach and mentor to many nurses who kindly paid tribute. Parents Ron and Elizabeth Hale and Tom and Isabel McKeen all recently passed. Isabel’s sister, Pat Rennie survives her on the Blair side of the family. Julie had a tenacious passion for fitness and adventure, becoming a tri-athlete in her 50’s and enjoyed many years traveling with her family and friends. The Camino trail left for family to conquer in her legacy. Julie may be gone from this world, but she lives on in the stories and memories of all those she touched during her lifetime. As per Julie’s wishes, and that of her family, a private cremation has taken place. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Juravinski Hospital and the compassionate care for Julie. Special thanks to Dr. John Holmes and our dear friend Tracey Westlake, to whom we are eternally grateful. We never know the impact that a loved one makes until the tributes come in as a testament of a life well lived. “Hug a nurse, you never know when you will need one.” Julie, we will love you forever outside of time. Family and friends are welcomed to a Memorial Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 12-1pm, where the Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday September 16, 2022 at 1pm. Family will welcome guests following the Funeral Service to join them for a reception at the Funeral Home. Private family interment to follow. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Juravinski Cancer Center would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com
