Obituary
SPILLER, Julian “Clive”, It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Clive on June 23rd 2022 age 78, with family at his side. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his spouse, Audrey of 44 years, his youngest daughter Erin McGregor (Jordan), grandson Brandon, granddaughter Zoë, daughter, Sheena Hawkins (Mike) granddaughters Ashley Hawkins (Nick Lawrence) and Kaitlyn Hawkins, great grandson Stetson Lawrence, daughter Shannon Carroll, grandson Liam granddaughter Megan, nephew Grant Spiller (Lisa), great nephew, Ben Spiller, cousin Allan Devlin (Annette), brother in laws, Robert Mitchell (Darlene) John Mitchell (April) and Bill Mitchell.
Born and raised in Kelowna, Clive was the youngest son predeceased by his parents Walter and Isabel Spiller, brother Aidan and niece Dr. Allison Spiller (Suzy Lister).
Clive stayed in touch with close friends over his lifetime, his best mate, Steve Alcock (Trisha), John Tanner (Fran), Craig McCaw, Larry Setterfield (Barb), Dave Haigh and many others. His musical talent started with the violin at age three, later playing guitar in a local Kelowna band, The Shadracks in the early to mid 60’s. He often said it was one of the happiest times of his life.
His hobbies included, drawing and painting, treasure hunting and model trains belonging to the Toy Train Operators Society. In his early years he worked on the boats on Okanagan Lake with his dad Walter Spiller. He had a career as a surveyor at an engineering firm in Surrey retiring at 56. He was a quiet, shy and introverted man with a love for all creatures great and small.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be determined, where he’ll be laid to rest with his dad Captain Walter Spiller on Okanagan Lake. “Rest In Peace Clive, you will always be a fine man to me”. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation B.C. or the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
