Obituary of Judith Henderson
Peacefully on Wednesday, August 24,2022 after a 20 year battle with Cancer Judy Henderson (nee Maddiss) of Chute a Blondeau, Ontario passed away at the age of 77. She will be deeply missed by her husband, partner and best friend George and her two sons, Michael (Jennifer Neron) and Douglas (Anne-Marie Hastings). She also cherished her 6 grandchildren Hannah, Sam, Gabe, Sara, Katelyn and Adam.Judy will be missed by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Peter (Alice), Patricia, and Jim (Cindy). Predeceased by her siblings; Gordon, Pamela and Heather. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
To her friends, Judy was always one to pitch in and lend a hand whatever the cause.
She spent a few years on the Home and School Board at Pleasant Corners School including one year as President.
She also spent over 20 years working hand in hand with Sue Tessier as a leader in the Girl Guides of Canada. This included taking a group to the UK for the experience of their young lives. They taught girls how to camp and become survivalists including under the throws of our winter.
She was a long-time member of the Look-Out Bay Women’s Institute of East Hawkesbury.
She also worked on the creation of Simon’s Hospice which unfortunately did not come to fruition.
Judy was the financial bookkeeper for the Friends of the Macdonell-Williamson House and received the Lieutenant-Governors award in February 2020 for her 25 years of volunteerism at the house. She also worked as a regular volunteer in the Tearoom and General Store.
Judy also worked with the 2011 Plowing Match Team when it came to East Hawkesbury helping with the accounting for the show that year and a few years following.
Throughout her career she worked as a bookkeeper for many companies but helped lead the growth and development of Atlantic Braids Ltd until her retirement in 2010. Judy was also multi-talented and learned how to do sales, production, shipping and maintenance.
In Judy’s retirement she concentrated on painting and taking painting courses. She also loved doing needlepoint. She was an avid gardener with her pride and joy being her fish pond garden.
A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held at a later date.
