Daughter of Agnes Kane (dec) and Earl Corcoran (dec). Sister of Dwight Corcoran (dec).
Judie was born in Ottawa, although following in her mother’s footsteps made a big move to Toronto as soon as she was old enough. There she met and married the love of her life Ronald William “Bill” Bensley; affectionately calling each other “Chicken”.
Judie and Bill had incredibly big hearts and personalities. They loved hosting people in their home and many can attest to being treated like gold. Both were fantastic cooks! They religiously watched The Wheel and Jeopardy. Judie amazing everyone with her ability to nail all the answers. They also enjoyed the suspense of a good crime show like Law & Order. And would weep deeply whenever a daytime talk show did an episode reuniting long lost family members.
Judie was a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan since the inception of the team. Even keeping fan membership cards from the 80s. She loved playing crib and just about every card game; teaching nieces and nephews how to play, not once giving an unearned win.
Music was a big part of Judie’s life. Even though dementia took parts of Judie’s memory, she remembered lyrics to songs. Staff at The Glebe Centre were convinced there wasn’t a song or hymn that she didn’t know the words to. She was especially fond of Motown, most likely from the year she lived in Detroit befriending early artists.
Judie took her last breath and peacefully went to meet Our Lord with the song It Is Well With My Soul playing and her Goddaughter Andrea caressing her hair.
She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, but especially by the loving care providers at The Glebe Centre.
A funeral Mass will be held at Divine Infant Parish at 6658 Bilberry Drive, Orleans on Saturday October 22nd at 9:30am. Interment to immediately follow at Notre Dame Cemetery 455 Montreal Road. Reception details to follow. All are welcome to attend.
