It is with great sadness, Mike Hicks of Nordin, NB, announces the passing of his beloved wife Judith (Judy) Hicks at the age of 72.
Judy is the daughter of the late Ester and William McKay and is predeceased by her only sibling, brother Curtis Bishop of Newfoundland.
Judy was extremely proud of her Newfoundland roots. As most all Newfoundlanders, Judy had a reputation for being friendly and for her infectious smile. Warm and welcoming, fun loving, and funny to the core, Judy was known for her love for music and singing abilities.
Judy had a knack for great story telling and she also had a knack for making friends.
Judy certainly loved her friends however, the apple of her eye were her two sons Dion and Robin Purcell (St John’s, Newfoundland). She was also proud to call her two stepsons Michael Hicks (Kamloops, BC) and Kelly Hicks (Barrie, ON) her own. Her grandson Jaxon Purcell, along with Judy’s step grandchildren Korie, Jordan, and Brenden, filled Judy’s heart with pride. Judy also had a special place in her heart for Nicole, calling her “one of her own”.
There will be no public visitation, however, Judy’s wishes will be upheld wanting everyone to celebrate the love and legacy she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Jack’s Bar, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Judy to the Miramichi SPCA or to the Miramichi Food Bank.
