Obituary of Juanita O’Brien
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jaunita who passed away November 6, 2022 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. She was 65.
Born in Goshen, she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Minnie Hensbee.
Jaunita is survived by her children, Crystal MacIsaac (Stephen) Alberta, Lyndon (Amanda) Goshen and Shirley, Mulgrave; nine grandchildren whom she loved very much, Steve, Savanah, Cobra, Draco, Moneck, Kelton, Lucas and Leland; very special great granddaughter, Luna; siblings Pearl, Dalbert (Pat), Wendall and Gloria of Port Hawkesbury and many nieces and nephews. Jaunita cherished her life long friends Carolyn, Marlene, Wanda and Darlene.
Jaunita was a strong, loving woman who loved her family with all her heart. She was best known for working hard at her family business of house cleaning. Jaunita worked various jobs in hospitality and met many people. When she wasn’t working she could be found with her family and friends, at the closest yard sale or at the stables. Jaunita had a passion for animals small and grand. Her favourite being horses.
Jaunita was also known for doing charity work for the Keepers of the Beacon that sponsors the Out of the Fog Lighthouse in Canso, NS. She spent many hours helping her sister Gloria with the museum. She also had a passion for reading. Jaunita and her sister Pearl would spend many hours hunting down books they haven’t read yet. Her favourite author was Danielle Steel. In Jaunita’s younger days, she enjoyed fishing with her brothers Delbert and Wendall. She also enjoyed hunting with her son Lyndon and daughter-in-law. Jaunita was a spit fire and never backed down from a challenge.
There will be a funeral service in Goshen Gospel Church, 20514 Hwy. 316, Goshen, Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:30 am, with a burial in Sunset cemetery. Reception to follow at the Goshen Community Centre.
Any flowers may be sent to MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish and donations in Jaunita’s honour may be made to Keepers of the Beacon Out of the Fog Lighthouse at www.visitguysborough.ca/out-of-the-fog-lighthouse-museum/ or Friendly Breezes Equestrian Center at friendly.breezes@gmail.com.
