Obituary for Juan de Dios Tejero
Juan de Dios Tejero Giménez, 79, passed away on December 16, 2022, in Prince George, BC.
Juan was born in Madrid, Spain, to Maria del Carmen Giménez Gonzalez and Federico Tejero Remon. He is survived by his wife, Maria Teresa Tejero; three children Marta, Karen, Andrew (Jen); his beloved grandson, John; and his former son-in-laws Gord Pointer and Inban Reddy. He is also survived by his younger sister, Maria del Carmen (Carlos) Tejero Giménez, his many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. Juan was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Maria de Los Angeles (Julio), Jose, Jesus (Pilar), and Federico.
He had a successful career in telecommunications and electronics and found himself working in a variety of places over his lifetime, among them the Voice of America (Liberia); NASA (Churchill, Manitoba); Pan American Airlines (Robertsfield, Liberia); CKCO (Kitchener, Ontario); and CKPG & Tejero Electronics (Prince George, BC). For many years he also was a HAM radio operator.
Juan was honest in his work, but not so much while playing Canasta (a game he loved to play with friends and family) as he often held an ace or two in his pocket! Fun loving with a passion for cooking, he was regularly found in the kitchen preparing a favourite dish to share while humming a tune. Fishing, gardening, and trying his luck at the lottery (he once won a Pontiac!) were all activities he enjoyed. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to fix something around the house. Juan especially cherished family gatherings, never said no to a slice of cheesecake or an ice cream cone, and delighted in canine visitors.
It is with a very heavy heart that we say goodbye. He will be dearly missed.
Memorial service at Christ Our Saviour Parish (4514 Austin Road West) at 11:00 a.m. on December 26, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice.
The family would also like to thank the dedicated staff and volunteers of Hospice House for making Juan’s last days peaceful and comfortable.
