Joyce Klachan 1933 2022

Obituary of Joyce Klachan
On a beautiful winter day, Joyce Marie (Fitzgerald) Klachan joined her much loved and missed husband Stan Klachan (2012) and son Frank Klachan (1982) on Friday, February 18, 2022 in her 89th year.
Born in Madoc, ON and raised in Blind River, ON Joyce met Stan, the man she would spend a life time with, while working in the Blind River Royal Bank. Married on July 6, 1957, Stan and Joyce would take over the Klachan Family tobacco farm. While working outdoors on the farm, Joyce also managed the books, cooked three meals a day from scratch for a harvest gang and drove her four children to hockey, accordion lessons, swimming lessons, football and figure skating.
Joyce’s love of figure skating led her on the ice assisting with the Aylmer Skating Club programs. Joyce loved watching figure skating and was a huge fan of Scott and Tessa! Joyce also loved volunteering for Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and could be found in the church’s basement with Stan blowing up balloons for Easter Sunday. Over the years, Joyce loved having coffee and catching up with her friends at Clark’s Restaurant each morning.
Later in the 1980’s, Joyce returned to school to become a Personal Support Worker and shared her gift of caring for others with many clients.
Joyce is survived by her very loved and proud of children, Dave, John (Yonko) and Theresa, daughter-in-law Joan, grandchildren Chris, Tania (Tiago), Paul (The Lad) (Stephanie) and Savanah(Ryan) and great-grandchildren Rafael, Nash and Banks. Joyce is also survived by her sister-in-laws Helen (Klachan) Kelly, Marg (Klachan) Moylan (John), Jean (Klachan) Coyne and Mary Ellen Klachan as well as many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to Joyce’s caregiver and friend Marilyn Whaley who spent the past nine years with Joyce. Mom loved you Marilyn. Thanks to Elgin-St. Thomas EMS, Malahide Fire Department, the doctors, nurses and staff on the 2nd, 4th and 5th floors at STEGH especially Dr. Rahman and nurse Meagan who cared for mom in her final days.
When visiting the Klachan house, Joyce was famous for saying, “How are you? Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?”!
