Joyce West 19322022

M. Joyce West
1932-2022
Margaret Joyce West, 89, of Hopewell, died March 12, 2022.
Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Florence and David
Patterson and was predeceased by her husband Bill West.
A lifelong resident of Pictou County, Joyce was employed by
several local businesses over the course of her life. She was a member
of St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, and was a long-time part of
the United Church Women (UCW) of the congregation. Joyce was also a
member of the Pythian Sisters and the Rebekah Lodge. Many fond
memories were formed because of her love of travelling, attending
curling events and spending time at the trailer at several campgrounds
over the decades. Her time was made ever more special through the
companionship of her various dogs, notably Archie, Levi and over the
last few years, Spencer, who is sadly left behind.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Brenda Mugford; many nieces
and nephews, several great nieces and nephews; as well as several
great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Florence and David Patterson,
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill”
West, brothers, John “Pat” Patterson, Robert
“Bob” Patterson, sisters, Mary Tanner, Jean Fraser
and nephew, John Patterson.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Glen Haven Manor
who cared for Joyce so well until her death.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of
R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Private family burial at a
later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Columba United
Church, Hopewell, NS.
