Joyce Quigley 19442022

Joyce Quigley
1944-2022
The family of Joyce Sandra (Tingley) Quigley sadly
announce her passing on Wednesday, August 10. Formerly of Colpitts
Settlement, she passed away at the Jordan LifeCare Centre, The Glades,
just four days short of her 78th birthday, after several years of
failing health.
Born in Salisbury, she was the third child of the
Late James and Ivy (Mesheau) Tingley. Left to grieve her passing: her
husband of 35 years Gerald (Gerry) Quigley, her son Bradley Crossman,
his wife Angelique and her son Christophe of San Antonio, Texas. Six
siblings: Gloria (Herbert) Jameson, Ralph (Donna) Tingley, both of
Colpitts Settlement, Roger Tingley of Charles Town, West Virginia,
Marilyn Hall of Riverview, Marlene (Bob) Hickman of Dorchester, Janet
Richard of Moncton. Joyce was predeceased by her mother, Ivy (Mesheau)
(2014), her father James (2004), nephew Jeffrey Hall (1999), niece
Nola Rourke (2018), brother Mark (2019), sister-in-law Bonita Tingley
(2019) and brother-in-law Cyril Hall (2021). Blessed to be born into a
large family, Joyce is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
A 1966 graduate of nursing at the Moncton
Hospital, Joyce’s first employment was five years in their
Pediatric Department. She enjoyed each nurses’ reunion she
was able to attend and the continuing contact with her classmates.
Joyce retired after 20 years, as the Nursing Supervisor of the Jordan
Memorial nursing home. Multiple orthopedic surgeries eventually led to
the amputation of her foot in 2006 and she was confined to a wheel
chair. Her world grew smaller and her challenges grew larger.
Fortunately, before these limitations, she was able to travel in the
US to Boston, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Yosemite
Park, as well as throughout Canada, to Calgary, the Rocky Mountains,
Montreal and the Laurentians. She lived briefly in Thompson, Manitoba.
At one time, Joyce generously shared her creative skills sewing,
knitting, crocheting and making crafts for her friends and family. In
more recent years, the telephone was her lifeline. Joyce loved to
shop, especially for delicate beautiful clothing items and jewelry,
angel figurines and bells. She also ensured loved ones knew she was
thinking of them on special occasions by faithfully sending cards.
Family gatherings brought her joy as family meant everything to
Joyce.
The family wish to thank Joyce’s in-home
care givers who enabled her to remain in her home until she just
couldn’t. They brought friendship and conversation into her
life. As well, heart felt appreciation is extended to the staff of
Jordan Life Care staff and Moncton Hospital where Joyce spent a great
deal of time in recent years.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106
(372-4800) visiting will be Saturday, August 13 from 6 to 8 pm. The
funeral will be held Sunday, August 14 at 2 pm in the funeral home
chapel with Pastor Lloyd O’Blenes and Pastor Dennis Smith
officiating.
If you wish, in remembrance of Joyce, donations
may be made to the Jordan LifeCare Centre, Middle Cemetery,
Cornerstone Community Church building fund or a charity of your
choice. Or please do an act of kindness to honor Joyce’s
generous heart.
