Joyce’s Obituary
Passed away at Caressant Care, Arthur, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the age of 96 years. Joyce was the beloved wife of the late William (2010). She was a war bride in 1945, practised as a nurse and came to Canada in 1960 where they adopted 4 children; David (Shirley) Matthews, Julie Hogarth, Wayne (Jenny) Matthews and Lisa Vets. She was a grandmother to Matthew (Mel), Julianne (Erik), Nathan (Sam), Donnalyn, Nichole (Curtis), Nicholas (Lauren) and Alyssa (Cole) and great-grandmother to Ethan, Sophie, Sloan and Jace. Joyce was a dear sister of Claire Foster.
She will be remembered for her many endeavours; including being the owner/operator of “Wicker & Things” in Elora, “Lighthouse Fish & Chips” and “Icy Delight” in Markdale. Joyce will be fondly remembered by many.
A memorial visitation and service was held at the Gilchrest Chapel – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, Guelph, on Saturday, September 2, 2022.
