Mom passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home. She was in her 100th year. She enjoyed 99 years of independent, community involved life in Spaniard’s Bay.
Affectionately known as Aunt Joyce, she was predeceased by husbands Drover Bishop in 1965 and Soloman Chipman in 1995. The last of the Noseworthy family: predeceased by parents William Noseworthy and Beatrice Butt; brothers William and Richard; sisters Violet, Susie, Mary, Julie and Gertie. Cavell Deering (Mack) and Marina Bannister (Gerald)from the Bishop family and Bertha Butt and Joyce Roach of the Chipman family also predeceased her.
Joyce is survived by daughter Verna Smith (Boyd) and son Max Bishop (Cloe); Ed Chipman (Mona), Jean French (Albert) and Ralph Roach (Joyce deceased)
Her extended family includes precious grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; loving and caring nieces and nephews and many supportive Conception Bay North friends who shared enjoyable times with her.
Joyce was an active community supporter. She was a long-time participant in the Holy Redeemer Church Choir, the Anglican Women’s Association and was awarded honorary membership by the Orange Lodge. Additionally, she served as the founding President of the Spaniard’s Bay Seniors Association. Her love of card playing, social events and eating out are legendary.

Visitation at Slade’s Funeral Home Conception Bay Highway, Spaniard’s Bay Tuesday June 21 from 2 – 4PM. & 7 – 9 PM. Service at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church on Wednesday June 22 at 2PM. Burial at Maul Tree Hill.
Thank you to relatives, friends and the exceptional home care workers Carol Ann, Selma, Bernice, Ena and Brenda for your support to mom during her years at home. We have many pleasant memories. Mom (Aunt Joyce) appreciated all you did for her. Since January 2022 excellent care was provided by the staff of Collingwood Downs and St. Patrick’s Mercy Homes.
