Joyce’s Obituary
METZLER, Joyce Antionette ~ Age 94, of Arlington, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born on July 26, 1928, in Sonora, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late William T. and Nora B. (Coles) Jack. Joyce enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and loved her family and all people. She enjoyed time spent baking and reading. Joyce had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. The pain of her loss is deeply felt and she will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her son, William “Will” (Heatherann) Metzler, Arlington; grandchildren, Kevin (Tracey), Karen (Naweed), Kristy (Ryan), Meagan (Austin), Matthew (Kaitlyn) and Thomas; great grandchildren, Mariah, Austin, Tad, Noah, Nora, Scarlet, Cooper and Jasmine; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were very special to her. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Clyde H. Metzler; son, Kevin Metzler; daughter, Nancy (Kirk) Durling; sisters, Hazel McGrath, Beulah MacIntosh and Dorothy Jack; brothers, Archibald, Lauren and Harold in infancy, Roy, Clayton, John, Murray, Claude and Laurie Jack. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend a graveside service at 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, in Pereaux Cemetery, Hubbard Mountain Road, Pereaux, with Rev. Deborah Lonergan-Freake officiating. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses ~ Annapolis Valley Branch or to your favourite charity. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Victorian Order of Nurses, in particular Karen and Darlene. Also the staff at Grand View Manor, and a special mention of LPN Michelle for the care and compassion shown to Joyce.
