FOUNTAIN, Joy Maureen
June 26, 1947 – February 28, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Joy. Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, dear friend to many and soul mate of her husband of over 40 years, Bing Fountain.
Joy was born on June 26, 1947 in Calgary, AB. Joy spent her life in service to her family and to others. She worked side by side with Bing in their family businesses. She was a tireless volunteer for her children’s softball teams from Bankview to Acadia. Joy’s essence was love. She was generous, full of grace, kind, thoughtful, incredibly hard-working, and she was joy, in every respect. She was fascinated by detail and all the beauty found there – in the birds, flowers, animals of every description, Christmas gift wrapping and artful tags, her extraordinary craft creations, and in all of the things everywhere in nature, She could make anything grow. She loved, as Bing would say, “playing in the dirt” and it showed. Her garden is full of flowers and trees, many grown lovingly from seed and were always the subject of admiration for the community. She also has an wonderful “eye” for beautiful photography. Unlike so many of us, she did perceive all the detail, especially in living beings and her intuition gave her empathy that was boundless and served so many in small and extraordinary ways. Joy was special in every way, and her angelic way will be deeply missed.
Joy was predeceased by her parents, Rod and Doris Ball. She is survived by her husband Bing, daughter Cindy and her husband Lane Ellis and her two children Kayla (Brad) and Colby in Calgary; her son Todd and his wife Christina and their two daughters Katarina in Calgary and Cassandra (John) in Manchester, England; grandson, Travis Graystone and great grandson, Corbin; granddaughter, Stephanie Graystone and great grandsons, Kane and Owen; her daughter Ginny and her husband Matt Chapman and their daughters Taylor (Max) and Ashley in Calgary; her sister Jennifer LaBelle and family; brother Rod (Valerie) Ball and family; her mother-in-law Evelyn Fountain and sister-in-law Sherri Fountain and family of Calgary.
In Joy’s fashion of informality and getting to the heart of the matter, family and friends will gather at their home when spring turns to summer and her life will be celebrated in the sun on a weekened afternoon. Flowers gratefully declined, friends so wishing may make donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or any charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Joy Maureen Fountain February 28th 2022..
