Obituary of Joseph Szucs
SZUCS: Joseph Michael “Joe”- A resident of R.R.#8 Chatham, Joe Szucs passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Chatham Retirement Resort on Sunday, August 7th, 2022 at the age of 90.
Born in Chatham, son of the late Joseph and Lea (nee Sterling) Szucs.
Joe was married to Mary (nee Salenbien) for 58 years before her passing in 2011.
Dear father to Judy (late Scott) Rankin and Michael Szucs and his wife Annette. Predeceased by his daughter Barbara Badiuk and her husband Ken.
Proud Grandfather to Kelly Rankin-Hart, Erin Roy, Katherine Rankin, Jeffrey Rankin, Amanda Szucs, Matthew Szucs, and Stephanie Badiuk-Fisher, as well as 11 great-grandchildren; predeceased by 2 great-grandchildren. Joe is also predeceased by his sister Lea (Doug) Wright.
Joe was a proud farmer in Dover Township and could often be found at a local coffee shop with a mischievous grin and a quick joke or story to share. He enjoyed spending time at his log cabin, which he reconstructed and tended to. Joe always found the humour in life, liked to visit a casino, farming shows and will be missed by all that knew him.
Family will receive family and friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home at 459 St. Clair Street in Chatham on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be held the following day, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham. Memorial donations to honour Joe’s life can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com.
