Obituary of Joseph R. Reed
Joseph R. Reed age 85 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Saturday January 22, 2022 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a short battle with COVID. He was born January 28, 1936 in Elmira, NY the only son of Wilmot C. “Bay” Reed and Frances Stalter Reed. Joe married his wife Nancy Ames Reed on January 11, 1958 and they recently celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary. Joe retired in 1991 as a Corrections Officer with The NYS Department of Corrections having worked at The Elmira Correctional Facility. In addition to his parents, Joe was pre-deceased by his son Geoffrey Alan Reed on July 2, 2021, his sisters Betty Lou Reed on October 2, 2008, Sharon J. Leone on December 18, 2018, and Golda Drawbaugh. Joe loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nancy; his loving children: Rebecca Bedell of Horseheads, NY , Joseph R. & Terri Reed Jr. of Erin, NY, Daniel & Hope Reed of Myrtle Spring, Texas, and Timothy Reed of Horseheads, NY; daughter-in-law; Kathleen (Mrs. Geoffrey A.) Reed; his cherished grandchildren: Victoria Bedell, Joseph R. Reed III, Tyler Reed, and Joshua Reed; 9 great grandchildren; sister: Susan Bryant; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. It was Joe’s wishes that there be no calling hours. Mr. Reed will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira, NY at the convenience of the family. Words of Condolence and Memories may be shared at www.lynchsfuneralhome.com .
