Obituary of Joseph Petrinac
PETRINAC, Joseph Steven
1970-2022
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Joseph Petrinac on March 26, 2022 at the age of 51. He was the beloved and devoted son of Stefani Petrinac (nee Iviček) and the late Joe Petrinac. Joseph will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind many close friends and fellow chefs in the community.
Joseph was a graduate of Brennan High School and St. Clair College in Culinary Arts. He furthered his culinary education in France by attending the prestigious L’École Ritz-Escoffier Culinary School from which he graduated at the top of his class. Joseph was also a member of the European Chef Convention in Barcelona. While in Spain, he was selected to work as a chef at the world renowned El Bulli, a Michelin 3 star restaurant. Most of his career as a trained chef was spent in 5 star restaurants in Toronto and Montreal with time spent also as head chef of the Bayfield Inn for several years. He eventually made his way closer to his roots and family where most recently, Joseph greatly enjoyed his position as chef at Riccardo’s in Amherstburg.
Joseph will be fondly and forever remembered for his many wonderful dishes, his strong work ethic, his energetic personality, friendly nature and his dedication to his family and friends.
