Joseph’s Obituary
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of MWO Joseph Gregoire in his Greenwood home. He was 63. Joe joined the Canadian Army Reserve, 51 Service Battalion BFC Montreal, in 1976, at age 17, and the Canadian Armed Forces in 1979, at CFB Ottawa. He was promoted to Corporal and Master Corporal in Ottawa and then served at CFB Edmonton from 1987 to 1993, where he became Sergeant. Joe attended the Leadership Air Force Academy at CFB Borden from 1993 to 1997 where he became a Junior Leader Instructor. He then moved to CFB Cold Lake, served there until 2005, and was promoted to Warrant Officer. While there, Joe completed tours of duty at Alert Base on Ellesmere Island in 2000 and with the Multinational Force and Observers Sinai Egypt (CPSM & SSM) in 2003. Joe moved to CFB Greenwood in 2005 where he was promoted to Master Warrant Officer. He was released in 2010 after serving for 34 years.
Joe adored motorcycles and could often be seen riding through the Valley on “Betty,” the blue-and-chrome Harley Davidson he named after his now-deceased mother. Joe was covered in tattoos, had spacers in his earlobes, and may have given strangers pause but in truth, he was a kind, funny, generous, and gentle soul who cherished his children and grandchildren. He loved animals and will surely be missed by “Outtie,” the stray cat he fed daily, and the crows, jays and squirrels he spoiled with bags of peanuts. Joe loved camping and the wonder of nature. He made art from antlers, grouse feathers, sea glass and driftwood. Joe was a teller of side-splitting stories and self-deprecating jokes. He was a giver of love, money, and possessions. He was a man who struggled to love himself the way others loved him and because of that, we are inconsolable. But not as inconsolable as Joe will be if he doesn’t find a Harley in heaven.
Joe leaves behind his son Steven, daughter Angela, two grandsons, Hector and Beau, and his ex-wife of 21 years, Susan Marie Gregoire. Joe is survived by his father, Paul, five siblings – Helen, Paula, Ronald, Daryl, and Lisa – and many cousins and friends.

Death notice for the town of: Middleton, Province: Nova Scotia
Condolences to Angela, Steven, Paul, Ron, Cindy and the entire Gregoire family.
I first met Joe at Transport in Edmonton, we soon became very good friends and in fact he was my best man for my wedding. Sue, Joe, and the kids would come out to our small hobby farm on weekends where he would become a weekend farmer. Susan and I were just talking about him getting off the trike because the bull wanted to ride it, he also wanted to shoot a deer with archery, but after sitting so long he was getting frustrated and then he heard something in the bush, turned out it was a cow, thank goodness he didn’t shoot her. We have many memories of Joe and can not believe he is gone. Our deepest sympathies to his family.
Love Brian and Susan Houlihan
