Peacefully, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Joseph William Edwardson passed away at the age of 98. Beloved husband of Violet. Loving father of Dean (Liz) Edwardson, the late Bryan (Linda) Edwardson, and Cynthia (Elden) GJerde. Cherished grandfather of Carly, Marcy, Selina, Amanda, Steven, Allison, and Michael. Treasured great-grandfather of Zachary, Quinn, Maeve, Beau, Ellie, Neyla, Kinley, Lilly, Josephine, and Winnifred. Remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and siblings. Joe joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas with the Royal Regina Rifles Regiment. He landed on the beaches in Normandy on June 6, 1944 and saw action in France, Belgium, and Holland. Following his discharge from the Royal Regina Rifles, he met and married Violet Burt on July 25, 1952. They moved to Sarnia in 1965 where Joe worked as a pipefitter for Local 663. He was an avid golfer and sports fan and coached several different teams. Joe enjoyed spending his time reading and he loved to travel. He attended the 70th and 75th anniversary of D Day in 2014 and 2019. Joe will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A graveside burial of ashes will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 1885 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
