Obituary
It is with great sorrow that Phyllis and Cathy Robertson announce the passing of a beloved son and brother, Joe, who was born in High River on December 3rd, 1961.
He was predeceased by his father, Thomas W. Robertson, in 1971 and by his companion of 20 years, Tina Lencucha, in 2019.
He loved children and helped Tina raise Scott, Kari and Samantha. He was “Santa Joe” to some of the neighborhood children. Joe was multi-talented, when at 3 years of age he started singing for the Seniors at the Twilight Nursing Home and The Manor, with hugs to follow. Joe loved music, art and dancing. Age 6 years, he won the High River Talent Night Contest 1st prize overall for Vocal. He sang in the Church choir. At 7 years, Joe won an award for being the youngest walker to complete the 20 mile hike to Cayley and back for the High River “Walk for Funds”. At the Glen Sather Hockey School in Banff, Joe won the Best Defenceman Award. Other accomplishments were in 4H Little Bow Beef Club, when he won Grand Champion Calf—weight 1320 # and 2nd in Best Gain of Weight. At Calgary Stampede, he won Grand Championship in the Home Grown Cow-Calf Competition. He was second in the Alberta Badminton Championship. At Strathcona Tweedsmuir School, Joe and Mr. Hay won first in skeet shooting competition and Joe also received the award for “Outstanding Athlete” that year. At SAIT, he earned his Mechanic’s License with honours. Joe formed a roofing company R&R Eavestroughing & Foundation Spray. He loved fishing and hunting and ultimately, he became a very good cook after going to France to the Cordon Bleu Cooking School to learn how to cut and prepare wild meat.
There will be a Celebration of Life – date to be announced later. If you wish, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, High River. We loved you so much. May you rest in peace.
