WHEELDON, Joseph “Sydney”
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Woodstock Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his loved ones in his 80th year.
Devoted father of Mark and wife Lina, Scott and wife Heather, Sydney, and Corinne and husband Jason Meyers. Loving grandfather of Alessandra, Giulia, Quinn, Ryley, Payton, Logan, Morgan, Isabelle, Coltin, and Kayla. Sydney will be missed by all in the past and present. Predeceased and now reunited with his beloved wife Gabrielle (Roy) Wheeldon who predeceased him on January 5, 2022.
Syd was a gentle giant to all those who he had known and met along his journey. Syd spent most of his time out on the water fishing with his co-captain and beloved wife, Gabrielle along with their children and grandchildren making memories over eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and many snacks.
In keeping with the families wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home.
The Wheeldon family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Sondhi and the Palliative Care Team at the Woodstock Hospital for the professional and compassionate care shown to both Syd and his family.
As expressions of sympathy, donations would be accepted to the Oxford Palliative Care team or Canadian Cancer Society and can be done on the funeral home website.
