Obituary
Joseph Roy LeGresley of Calgary Alberta, and formally of Chatham Head, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the age of 78.
Born in Newcastle, NB on December 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles and Minnie (Russell) LeGresley. Roy worked as a bellhop at the Admiral Beaty Hotel in Saint John NB, moved to Ontario for a few years, owned a Sub Shop, worked in fine dining restaurants, and finally retired from Hayworth, making office furniture.
Roy volunteered for many years with different organizations helping children in need. In honor of Roy’s memory, the organization he volunteered for has set up a scholarship to be presented each year to a student in his area in Calgary, Alberta.
Roy is survived by two sisters Yvonne O’Brien (Bev) Saint John, NB, and Eileen (Leo) Murdoch Miramichi, NB; brother-in-law Bobbie Lanteigne; and several nieces and nephews. As well as Roy’s dear friend of 21 years Marie Fee and her family from Calgary, Alberta.
Besides his parents, Roy is predeceased by his siblings, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Billy (Charline), Paul(Ann), Edward(Jenny), Frank, Junior LeGresley, Mary (George, Eddie) Burke Miousse, May (Edgar) Chaverie, Cecilia Balser, Leona (Louie Sonier, Harris) Savoy, Charline Lanteigne; nephews Charlie and Allen Sonier, Beverley Chaverie, Mike O’Brien, Allard St.Coeur, Andrew Balser; nieces Lorraine -Leo Hachey, Tanya LeGresley.
At Roy’s request, no Visitation or Wake will be held.
A Graveside Service will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Nelson, NB at a later date.
In memory of Roy, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
