Joseph Richard Grayczyk
(November 22, 1956 – December 16, 2022)
In Loving Memory of Joseph Richard Grayczyk (66) who passed away peacefully December 16, 2022 at the Maison McCullough Hospice in the presence of his cherished wife.
Beloved husband to Donna O’Reilly, cherished father to Joy (Nathan), Bethany (Nicholas), and Jonathan, much loved step-father to Brittaney (Jeff) and Collin, treasured Grampy to Ari, Kai, and Emry. Loving brother to Joyce (Kent), John (Cheryl), and Jodi (Craig) and precious uncle to their children. Treasured son to Rita Mae (Vollmar) and Bernard T. Grayczyk, both predeceased.
Joe fought a difficult battle with cancer and from the beginning he acknowledged that he was in the Lord’s hands. ‘I am ready to go home to be with Jesus’ was his exact sentiment. He felt so very blessed to have his beautiful children, grandchildren and siblings visit him from the U.S. on various occasions throughout his journey and to celebrate his most recent birthday. His most treasured times were spent with family, it didn’t matter what the activity was he just enjoyed being in their presence; he held them all so dear.
Joe’s love for his family and blended family was incomparable. He loved with his whole heart and his joy was displayed freely through his sparkling eyes and radiant smile which he continued to offer even near the end of his journey. Joe had a heart for the lost and the hurting as he shared the love of Jesus with family and many whom he met at the hospital and hospice.
Joe was a man of integrity of heart and his kindness was unsurpassed. He worked as a police officer for 2 years in Wallbridge, Ohio and 33 years in Oregon, Ohio. He truly believed it was a calling; protecting and doing his utmost to ensure everyone’s safety. Joe was known for offering grace to first time minor offenders and his character endeared him to, and made him highly respected by his fellow officers. Joe’s retirement in February 2018 was a bitter sweet day for him.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the Bayshore nurses who cared for Joe at home and to Dr. Ravi Singh and his staff at the Cancer Center for their kindness and compassionate care. Thank you to Jessica Ernewein, Joe’s homeopath for her part in bringing about a period of recovery and healing for Joe. We also offer our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the Maison McCullough Hospice who tended to Joe’s every request and need for almost 8 weeks with love, tenderness, kindness and compassion. Joe’s comfort was their priority and that was evident in their every action. Your deeds will not be forgotten.
Joe touched and changed the lives not only of his family, but everyone he met. His memory will live on, in and through each of us.
Forever in our hearts and now residing in his eternal home in the loving presence of Jesus, our guardian angel until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at All Nations Church.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
