Obituary
It is with heart-felt sadness that we announce that Joseph Normand LeBlanc, 87, passed away peacefully at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Home on the 30th of May 2022. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Patrice and Yvonne (Gaudet) LeBlanc.
As a young man, Normand served in the Air Force for over 5 years. He then began a long career in materials inspection in heavy industry, working in Montreal and finally in Saint John for Irving Oil, Ltd., where he remained for over 20 years until his retirement in 1994.
Normand was a quiet and kind-hearted soul who gave to his community through work with the Kennebecasis Valley Food Basket and the Knights of Columbus.
He will be fondly remembered by his many friends at the Kennebecasis Valley Carving Club where he spent many hours carving the many birds and animals he so enjoyed making.
He will be sadly missed by his many friends and relatives, especially his wife of 60 years, Yvette (Nee Allain); son, Paul (Aleacia) and daughter, Deneen Opala (Richard); grand-son, Jeremy (Marina); granddaughters, Chelsey (Brandon) and Aimee; and great-grandson, Sebastien. His loving siblings; his sisters, Theresa Bougeault (late Mike), Marie-Anne Allain (late Laurie), Yvonne Robichaud (late Alonzo), Patricia Losier (Alfred), Lorraine LeBlanc, Stella Lipton (Cy) and his brothers, Leonard (Simone) and Wilfried (Gloria).
Besides his parents, Normand was predeceased by his sisters, Jeanne Gaudet (Albenie), Louise Chabassol (Harold); and brothers, Yvon (Francoise), Emerie (Marilyn) and Robert (Murielle).
The family wishes to thank the staff and management of the Ridgewood Veterans Home for the excellent quality of care and support they provided in the last few years and days of Normand’s stay.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 11am from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (74 Almon Lane, Rothesay) with a private family interment to take place in Moncton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada or to the Ridgewood Veterans Home would be greatly appreciated by his family.
