Collins, Joseph Louis
Passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital on January 3, 2022 at the age of 77. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 38 years, Carol. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Kathleen (nee Connolly), step son Kevin (Jennifer), grandchildren Justine and Nicole, siblings Betty O’Brien and Gordon (Catherine) as well as their children Tom O’Brien, Dan Collins, David Collins and Kelly Collins. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond, brother Bill, step son David and nephew Bill. He will also be greatly missed by many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Joseph, lovingly called Lou, was a dedicated employee of Petro Canada (Oakville Refinery) for 32 years. Upon retirement, he enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and was a chronic putterer. Mostly, he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stop light north of the QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday January 6, 2022 from 6pm until 9pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church (2016 Blairholm Ave, Burlington) on Friday January 7, 2022 at 10am. Full proof of vaccination is required to attend the visitation as per the request of the family. In accordance with provincial regulations, there is a limit to the number of visitors who may attend the visitation and service. Please RSVP in advance at www.smithsfh.com . If you are having difficulty with the online RSVP, please call the Funeral Home between 9a.m. – 5 p.m. All visitors are asked to wear a face mask and are to remain in their cars until their allotted time. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Joseph to the Good Shepherd Centre or the Parkinson’s Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
