Joseph (Joe)’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph (Joe) Martin Keough announces his passing on Saturday, July 16th, 2022 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, at the age of 78 years. Born in Corner Brook, NL, Joe was the son of the late Martin and Deloras Keough and raised by the late Joe and Alma Musseau. He was also predeceased by his infant son; Craig, great-granddaughter; Ava, sister; Florence, father and mother-in-law; Wilfred and Caroline Osmond (nee Pearce), brothers-in-law; Gordon (Goog) Short and George Anderson.
He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving wife of 56 years; Susan Keough (nee Osmond), his children; Stacey (Lew) Short of Port aux Basques, NL, Wade (Carolann) Keough of Fox-Roost, NL, and Colin Keough of Port aux Basques, NL, his grandchildren; Brittany, Ethan and Kyrstal, great-grandchildren; Cali, Jersey and Scott.
He also leaves to mourn his uncle who was more like a brother; Ronald Musseau of Port aux Basques, NL, brothers and sisters in-law; Clifford (Marge) Musseau of Port aux Basques, NL, Clyde (Sharon) Pope of Moncton, NB, Bernice Short, Geraldine Anderson, both of Port aux Basques, NL, nieces and nephews; Bruce Musseau, Kevin Banks, Michelle Banks, and David Banks, plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Joe was a generous, compassionate, and a loving man both of family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and a prank up his sleeve. Never a man shy of hard work, working at Beauchamps Hardware for 22 years, then with Notre Dame Castle for another 15 years until he finally retired. After that; Joe enjoyed his free time at his cabin in the Gultch, with a drink of Old Sam in his hand. As he would say “I’m here for a good time, not a long time.”
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 from 2-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, NL. In keeping with Joe’s wishes, cremation will follow. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 21st @ 2p.m.. from the Wesley United Church, Channel-Port aux Basques, NL officiated by Joan Chassion. Interment will follow at the Wesley United Cemetery, TCH, NL.
