Obituary of John Uchmanowicz
On Sunday May 8, 2022, John passed away peacefully at the age of 72 with his family by his side. Cherished husband and best friend Judy of 49 years. Much loved father of Tammy Ryan (Sean) and Anthony Uchmanowicz (Jennifer). Proud grandfather of Kaitlyn Ryan (Jaren), Sarah Ryan (John) and Matthew Uchmanowicz. John leaves behind his adored brother Karol (late Valerie), late brother Tony (Liz), sister Wanda Marquis (Reno), and many nieces and nephews. He is now reunited with his parents Antoni and Maria. Dear brother-in-law of Bill Greene (Anne), the late Shirley Greene, the late Robert Diotte (Lily), Karen Wilshere (Don), Jaye Frost (Lloyd), Teddy, Patricia (Joe), Michael (Christine) and Margaret Diotte.
Though his body was tired, he tapped his toes to the music during his final hours. John was a hard worker and had a gentle and kind disposition. He loved his family, cherished his life-long friendships and looked forward to travelling at every opportunity. He enjoyed telling stories of adventures from river rafting, ATV rides and of course the camp and local watering holes in Detour, Michigan. John’s strength, pride, loyalty, and sense of humor will always be remembered by those who knew him.
At John’s request, a private family service will take place. Memorial donations to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A sincere thank you to the wonderful staff on 3B and the Emergency Department for the kindness and care provided during this challenging time. We would like to thank EMS dispatch and paramedics as well as Homecare and Bayshore for the support and assistance at home. Special thanks to Mel and Lina for the medical care and friendly visits on infusion days.
