Johnson; Joan Stella 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joan Stella Johnson, of Brooklyn, on April 20, 2022. She put up a good fight against diabetes for over 40 years, after all those years it took a toll on her body and she passed away peacefully in her sleep at North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia
Born in Crowthorne, England, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Kathleen (Woodage) Wentzell.
Joan immigrated to Canada in 1945 with her mother and older sister, Margaret. She was a hard worker all of her life, learning to make bread at the age of 10 and out working for others at the age of 11. She was a great cook and baker, as her family and friends knew very well. She helped to prepare many family suppers, wedding meals and ect. Joan worked as a cook at Queens General Hospital and Queens Manor for many years. She loved spending time with her family and fiends, and spent many hours on the phone talking to the people she cared about. Joan also enjoyed spending time in the summer months at her trailer in Middleton, with her campground family.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Gail; son, Steven (Janice Doubleday); granddaughter, Hayley all of Brooklyn; grandson, Brett of Liverpool; her three great grandsons, Kaiden, Noah and Hunter all of Brooklyn; sisters, Margaret Doran of Millet, Alberta, Elva Anderson (Junior Snair) of Black Point; brothers, Sydney (Christel), Glen (Nita) both of Edmonton, Alberta and Eugene (Janus Naugler) of Camperdown; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
