Obituary of John Robert Butt
John Robert “JR” or “Jack” Butt was a beloved grandfather, father, husband, and friend during his incredible 93 years of life. He peacefully passed away on December 21, 2022 at Botwood Hospital. John was born in Badger, NL on November 29. 1929.
John will be deeply missed by his beloved family: son and best friend Arch (Roberta) Butt, daughter Betty (Gordon) Guy, grandchildren Karen, Gordie, Amanda, Trevor, Tracey, Justin, and Jessica, as well as, his great-grandchildren and many others.
John was predeceased by his parents along with his brothers and sisters, his wife Violet Butt, daughter Debbie Braye, sons Darren Butt, Johnny Butt, and son-in-law Ernie Rund.
John lived a life of service to others. He served the United Church in different capacities for many years. He was proud to don his Newfoundland Light and Power uniform until he retired. He served his community and showed his family love every day. He was a proud and loving man who doted on his grandkids. He was silly and kind and had a smile that would light a room along with a hearty laugh. He was a master storyteller who sang his own songs. He adored his family and gave each member a nickname that we all still use. Anyone who met him would leave better for knowing him and his giving heart. The love he put out in the world walk among us all.
